The impeachment drum beat crescendo : 45% favor the idea of the House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against President Bush...while 46% oppose. 54% favor the idea of the House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against Vice-President Cheney...while only 40% oppose. What would these numbers look like if leading Democrats were making the case for impeachment? This can totally happen. If a leading Democratic candidate for president comes out boldly for this, that would be a major step forward. There's House Resolution 333 which impeaches Cheney. It was submitted by Kucinich, and I'm proud to say my representative Barabara Lee is a co-sponsor. But we need some more heavyweights to sign on. How about it, Speaker Pelosi?

Egad, Brooks' column in the New York Times today stank like fresh, steaming turd. It's a great example of the very different reality in which the beltway punditocracy dwells. He speaks derisively of the "howlers" who object to Bush's commuting Libby's sentence, as if any outrage against the Bush administration is something to be mocked, rather than examined to determine whether or not it has merit. Obviously, Libby is one of us and so to Brooks the thought that a member-in-good-standing of the Washington inner circle should go to jail for a crime is absurd.
