Internal Monologue

I really have to use Internal Monologue to get press credentials so I can sit closer to the stage and get better pictures. I wonder if it would work.

Clinton (to the left of the white screen) and Dianne Feinstein (hairdo unmissable even at this distance) to the right of it in Downtown Oakland this afternoon. You can see the Glide Memorial Church choir in the background. I would have tried to get closer but I was wearing Quinn in a baby backpack and didn't want to get him crushed or bump him into other people. OK, I went to the Hillary Clinton rally in downtown Oakland this afternoon and here are my impressions: The crowd was not particularly enthusiastic. I haven't been to many political rallies, but the crowd seemed rather subdued to me. We got impatient waiting for Hillary to speak. There were some hard-core Hillary supporters, but most people seemed more curious than energized. Musicians and politicians who came before Clinton had difficulty getting the crowd to yell and wave signs with the desired amount of fervor. The crowd was large. We got some tickets at the last minute to the Hillary Clinton event in Oakland this afternoon. So we're taking Quinn and going. I'll let my readers know what I find, and post some pictures. Right now I am favoring Obama and Edwards over Clinton, but I'm still curious what she has to say and what her event will be like.

Call me a privileged elitist, but barring a drastic change in my financial situation I will never send my child to a school where he or she has to deal with this kind of shit : A school in New York is having problems because their absolute “no bag” policy is a bit anti-female, surprise surprise . As any woman reading this is immediately thinking, the problem with not letting students carry even small bags to school is that female students have a very real need to carry pads and tampons. The US Dollar seems to be imploding . The Canadian dollar is now basically even with the US Dollar, which is a very new phenomenon. I don't know what the implications of this are other than the obvious: other nation's stuff is more expensive to us, our stuff is cheaper for them. That's what happens when you have a big trade deficit and big budget deficits for a long time, I guess.
