Bush on timetables: good for Clinton, bad for me

Bush has apparently decided that timetables shouldn't apply to his military actions, even though he called for them when Clinton was sending troops to the former Yugoslavia. Republican hypocricy on this issue is enormous and should get more attention.

Speaking of Bush, Jonathan Singer on MyDD thinks Bush didn't do himself any favors with his veto speech:
By repeatedly underscoring the substance of the legislation passed by Congress -- to set a timeline for the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, a position that is backed by the vast majority of Americans -- the President immediately places himself on the wrong side of the issue and the Democrats on the right side.

In short, the President did himself no favors with this appearance tonight, and the Democrats should and must remain resolute rather than cower before the combined effort of the White House and the establishment to browbeat them into signing off on an open-ended continuation of the Iraq War.
