Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), a wily, aggressive West Wing strategist under President Bill Clinton, has accepted the post of White House chief of staff for President-elect Barack Obama, Democratic officials tell Politico.
Apparently, the character of Josh Lyman on The West Wing
was based partly on Rahm Emanuel. Which is funny, because apparently some of the inspiration for the Matt Santos character was Barack Obama. Santos chose Lyman as his chief of staff. Now Obama has Emanuel as his chief of staff. Does that mean that Obama has MS but hasn't been telling us, and that he will negotiate a comprehensive Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement? No. But the parallels are fun to point out.
