Intrade adds "PALIN.VP.WITHDRAWN" contract

Right now, the betters at Intrade give Governor Palin a 14.8% chance of being dropped from the ticket before the election.

Maybe I ought to buy a few of those contracts...

I don't think McCain can outright dump Palin at this point. That would be giving too much ammo directly to Obama. He can't even pick a Vice-President on the first try? Doesn't speak well towards his decision-making ability.

More likely Palin would (be forced to) withdraw, in that scenario.

Still, there's not a lot of time left for that to happen. Oregon starts printing ballots on Friday, and other states are probably similar. The deadline would usually be tomorrow, but was postponed once already due to the late Republican convention. I don't think it would be postponed again.

Granted, it's a vote for the electoral slate only, and so the electors would still be free to vote for the new VP pick if McCain won this state, but we're about to reach the point where the name on the ballot is irrevocably "Sarah Palin".
