Missing purgegate e-mails

I think I'm going to go to Costco and get a big old case of popcorn. Here's Kos' post on "The 18-minute gap, Bush-style":

The Bush Administration is working overtime to make this attorney scandal look more and more like Watergate by the day.

In DOJ documents that were publicly posted by the House Judiciary Committee, there is a gap from mid-November to early December in e-mails and other memos, which was a critical period as the White House and Justice Department reviewed, then approved, which U.S. attorneys would be fired while also developing a political and communications strategy for countering any fallout from the firings.

Expect the phrases "constitutional crisis", "impeachment", and "inherent contempt" to start making the rounds.

I've always wondered about these "document dumps". What's to prevent someone from removing the incriminating stuff before turning things over? I guess it's the risk of getting caught.

Maybe Gary Wills will write Bush Agonistas.

I've never seen Bush as rattled as last night. That wasn't anger, or Dubya on the offensive. That was the President fight back panic.

And why didn't the networks interrupt the stupid local news broadcasts and game shows to bring Bush's speech live? Even PBS passed it up. I can't believe how slow MSN is to realize the significance of this scandal.

Where is 56th and Wabasha? "Meet Me in the Morning" Dylan Mystery Solved

Short version The lyric is not "Fifty-sixth and Wabasha", it is actually "Fifty-six and Wabasha", referring to the intersection of old Minnesota Highway 56 and Wabasha Street in Saint Paul, Minnesota. If you listen, you can hear Dylan sing "fifty-six", rather than "fifty-sixth", particularly on the take that was released as the B-side to "Duquesne Whistle". Minnesota Highway 56 no longer intersects Wabasha Street, but from 1963 to 1974 it did intersect Wabasha Street, at what is now (in Feb. 2021) the intersection of George Street and Cesar Chavez Street in St. Paul, or possibly South Wabasha & Cesar Chavez.  Long Version "Meet Me in the Morning" is the first song on side two of Bob Dylan's celebrated 1975 album  Blood on the Tracks. Remember in the movie Adaptation , the main character's brother has this idea for a screenplay called The Three? It's about a detective trying to track down a serial killer before he kills his next victim. Pretty standard, right?
