Their reality has lapped our satire

Jeff Weintraub introduces this doozy with a single sentence: "Not a parody."

I actually went to The Claremont Institute's website to verify this, and it checks out. I don't know what to say. Honoring Rumsfeld at a Churchill dinner...um...as I recall, the British under Churchill were on the winning side of World War II. What has Donald Rumsfeld won for us? Looking at The Claremont Institute's "about us" page, one finds the following paragraph:
To recover the founding principles in our political life means recovering a limited and accountable government that respects private property, promotes stable family life, and maintains a strong defense.
How in God's name has Donald Rumsfeld contributed to recovering a "limited and accountable government?" Their isn't a limit or attempt at accountability that this administration hasn't tried to batter into oblivion. "Maintain a strong defense"? C'mon. Is there anyone more directly responsible for the over-stretched condition of our military forces than Donald "stuff happens" Rumsfeld? This is ridiculous. If I were a conservative institution, I'd be putting as much daylight between myself and Donald Rumsfeld as possible. But then I'm not a conservative institution.

This has been another edition of Their Reality Has Lapped our Satire.
