Another scary development, another reason to leave Iraq soon

From the Creeping Fascism watchdog center, I give you the following bit of unsettling news: Hate groups are “infiltrating” the military. (via clammyc on Daily Kos) I put “infiltrating” in quotes because it doesn’t seem like they have to hide their presence:
The groups are being abetted, the report said, by pressure on recruiters, particularly for the Army, to meet quotas that are more difficult to reach because of the growing unpopularity of the war in Iraq.

The report quotes Scott Barfield, a Defense Department investigator, saying, "Recruiters are knowingly allowing neo-Nazis and white supremacists to join the armed forces, and commanders don't remove them from the military even after we positively identify them as extremists or gang members."
This has got to stop. Read the article and the Kos post. It’s pretty scary. One thing about the Iraq occupation: it’s putting a lot of guns and military training in the hands of those who don’t have the best interests of the United States at heart. I thought it was just Shiite death squads we were unwittingly (?) arming and training. Now it turns out were training neo-Nazis in urban guerilla warfare. Yet another reason to get out of there as soon as possible. We must get reasonable folk back in power.
