Atrios points to this Reuters story. Louisiana enacted a “trigger law” that would ban almost all abortions “even in cases of rape or incest” if Roe vs. Wade is overturned. This saddens me. I think people are going to have to start dying from botched abortions again before some states will come up with a tolerable compromise. Federalism (i.e. different states doing different things) may be the only way to go on this issue, but that means abandoning many to the punishments of the reactionaries.
